My global vision for this multinational writing skills business

On September 17th, I facilitated a conversation about my multinational writing business.  Thanks to Molly Walker and Michaela Hayes for inviting me and for the participants for being an engaging, lively group!

I talked a bit about what this international communications firm looks like.
  • We have been evolving and adapting for 30+ years
  • We are a small, nimble team
  • We repurpose and recycle
I talked about how to grow and manage a virtual, multinational communications team:
  • Leverage big brands
  • Keep the long term contracts (even if small) intact
  • Change your view about working and non working hours

I gave some heads-ups about what to consider in taking advantage of new and surprising growth opportunities:
  • Build a network
  • Take the slowdowns and invest in your business (like our books)
  • Learn to say no

And I talked about how I stayed current on industry trends in more than one country:
  • Ask a lot of questions
  • Join associations and networks
  • Increase your cultural intelligence (Muslim woman to the bar, Asians don’t use the word “contractor” and don’t tell them you work from home)
  • Listen for buzz words
